Competencies

  1. Support and maintain a transportation program that adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements
  2. Ensure that a bus maintenance and replacement program is established and maintained
  3. Analyze alternative transportation methods and opportunities for cooperative transportation
  4. Ensure an efficient and comprehensive routing system is developed and maintained


Safety and Training

Competencies

  1. Monitor the transportation system for its safety, security and efficiency and make adjustments as necessary
  2. Ensure a plan is in place for training and re-training and retaining drivers, paraprofessionals, and other essential transportation personnel as required by the district.
  3. Develop and maintain open and clear lines of communication with parents, staff, administration, government and the public for the purpose of conveying responsibilities, needs and expectations of all stakeholders.


Operations

Competencies

  1. Awareness and understanding of all legislation and regulations as it relates to student transportation for day to day and for special events and field trips.
  2. Develop a working knowledge of funding sources and issues related to school transportation
  3. Develop appropriate procedures for selecting bus contractors/drivers and other related transportation personnel.
  4. Review legal and administrative responsibilities for advertising, awarding and managing transportation contracts.
