AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
The ASBOA Awards program has been developed by members of ASBOA to
recognize individual members for their contributions of time, talent and
commitment to the Association. The Executive has endorsed the restructuring of the annual Celebration of Excellence Awards to provide three (3) "Awards of Excellence" that connect to the Association's mandate of
- Fostering Good Relationships
Individual members may be recognized for their leadership, commitment and contributions to the profession, to the membership of the Association and to the community.
LONG SERVICE RECOGNITION
Members of ASBOA are recognized for their service and membership with the Association at 10 years and then in 5 year increments thereafter.
Presentations are made each year at the Annual Conference.
The ASBOA Executive may approve a nomination for Life Membership in accordance with the Association Bylaws 2.01(c) and the School Business Officials Regulations (37/2004), Each nomination must provide detailed information regarding the nominee's activities and contributions to the Association and the profession, in addition to the meeting the criteria as outlined:
- has been actively involved in the practice of school business administration for at least 10 years
- has rendered distinguished service to the Association
- is retired or has resigned from the practice of school business administration
Fellow Certified School Business Official (FCSBO)
The ASBOA Executive may approve a nomination for a Certified School Business Official who has contributed outstanding service in the practice of school business administration to be registered as a Fellow Certified School Business Official.
The nominee must:
- be a Certified School Business Official in good standing
- have served in a leadership capacity for the Association of School Business Officials of Alberta, either at the Zone or Provincial level; and
- have been a regular member for a minimum of 10 years prior to the nomination for Fellow Certified School Business Official.
The President, like all Executive positions are volunteers, and without the contributions of these dedicated individuals and the support of their Senior Leadership team and their Board of Directors, many would not be able to contribute the time and commitment necessary for the position of President. This scholarship contribution is the Association's way of saying thank you - both to the member serving as the President of the Association, and to the member's jurisdiction.
At the completion of their term as Past President, on the provincial executive, the school jurisdiction will be presented with a cheque for a one-time scholarship of $1500.00.to be given to a high school student(s) within their jurisdiction. The board, in consultation with the member will be responsible for setting the criteria for the distribution of the funds.
