The duty of school boards to protect the health and safety of workers is extensive and the particular safeguards that should be put into place to satisfy the duty can be difficult to predict in advance of an accident.

School boards may be surprised to learn that under the Occupational Health and Safety Act their obligations can even include a duty to proactively invent engineered solutions to hazards. This was the surprising result in a recent decision from the Provincial Court of Alberta.

The Association of School Business Officials of Alberta (ASBOA) and the Alberta Education Health and Safety Association (AEHSA ) are pleased to work with McLennan Ross in providing a complimentary webinar specifically tailored for Alberta school jurisdictions. The webinar will address OH & S issues specific to school jurisdictions, including the most recent case law, the implementation of hazard control systems and the trends in OH & S sentencing.

Who Should Attend: Especially designed to address issues facing Alberta school jurisdictions, this webinar is recommended for Secretary Treasurers, Superintendents,  Occupational Health and Safety Officers, Risk Management Officers, In-house Legal Counsel, and anyone who is responsible for overseeing a school jurisdictions'  OHS program.
