Certified School Business Official

CSBO Certification is the mark of a Dedicated ASBOA Professional

Members of ASBOA have diverse backgrounds of education and experience, including recognized accounting designations, university or college degrees, certificates or many years of on-the-job training. Registration as a profession under the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act (POARA) has established a recognizable standard of education and experience common to Certified School Business Officials (CSBO).

The role of the school business official varies by jurisdiction size and available resources within the jurisdiction; however, the essential skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage and safeguard district assets and maximize resources for students do not.

That is why it is so important that we recognize school business officials who obtain the Certified School Business Official (CSBO) designation.

The titles of Certified School Business Official (CSBO) and Fellow Certified School Business Official (FCSBO) are protected under the School Business Officials Regulation, and the ASBOA bylaws.

Why the CSBO designation? The CSBO designation helps you:

  • Measure your expertise against the professional standards
  • Instill stakeholders' confidence and build trust in your school jurisdiction
  • Continue with individual professional development and continuing learning
  • Increase marketability with a designation that signifies a level of expertise specific to school business
