Awards of Excellence 

This award is not intended to be a capstone to an individual’s career, but recognition of the memberships appreciation for the individual’s current accomplishments and contributions to the Association and the profession of school business management. These individuals have demonstrated a continuous interest in learning and in staying abreast of developments in the field of school business management. They have provided leadership and commitment to the Association and are role models for other school business officials.
Key Characteristics for award recognition
  • advancement of the profession of school business management
  • contributions to the Association of School Business Officials; the Association of School Business Officials International
  • continuous interest in learning
  • leadership and commitment
  • position as a role model for other school business officials
  • enhancement of the visibility of the Association and the profession in the education community and/or general public
  • outstanding practices and innovation beyond the requirements of the profession for the benefit of members and/or the profession
Eligibility Criteria
Active members in good standing of the Association of School Business Officials of Alberta.
(Certified, Regular and Associate members).

Current members of the ASBOA Executive are not eligible during their terms.


Nomination Requirements


All entries must be made using the official nomination form, 

Nominations must be submitted by February 15th unless otherwise noted.  Nominations may be made by: 
  • Individual ASBOA members 
  • ASBOA Zones
  • Board of Trustees
  • Superintendents
All nominations must be supported with a narrative of the nominee's achievements and contributions. Responses to each question should not exceed a single page if possible. Space has been provided on the Nomination form.



Award Presentation

Award Recipients will be announced and presented at the Annual Conference. Recipients will not be notified or announced prior to this event.
Notification will be sent to the Board Chair and the Superintendent of the recipients school jurisdiction, immediately following the presentation. 
There may be up to three (3) Awards of Excellence presented annually.

The Association of School Business Officials is registered under the Professions and Occupations Association Registration Act and represents more than 200 school business officials in the province of Alberta and the North West Territories. ASBOA provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices and professional growth.
